Reflexology applies pressure to specific points on the feet which relate to all the organs and parts of the body. By stimulating reflex points in the feet reflexology opens up nerve pathways and encourages blood flow promoting balance and release in the different systems of the body.
This is an ancient therapy used by different cultures through the centuries. The map of the body as used in today’s reflexology was documented by American physiotherapist Eunice Ingham in 1938 in her book ‘Foot Reflexology – Stories The Feet Can Tell.’
Reflexology may be useful for:
- Reducing pain, stress and tension
- Improving blood circulation
- Stimulating nerve supply and function
- Activating the body to cleanse toxins and impurities
- Reducing sleep disorders
